Are you looking for a tasty, protein-rich snack that you can prepare in advance for an energy boost before your workout or even for breakfast? Then we have just the right recipe for you: our juicy Protein Flapjacks! These oat bars are not only incredibly delicious but also super versatile and easy to make. Plus, they’re perfect for nourishing your body with high-quality proteins, complex carbohydrates, and fibre.
In this version, we use our WAM Protein in Banana Bread flavour, but you can easily swap it for the Chocolate Hazelnut version if you’re in the mood for a more chocolaty treat. Thanks to our vegan protein blend, you’ll get about 11 grams of protein per serving (bar).
Ingredients for 6 Vegan Protein Flapjacks:
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 125g oats (rolled or porridge oats)
- 60g WAM Protein Banana Bread
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp agave or maple syrup
- 50g dark chocolate chips (at least 70% cocoa)
- 125ml oat milk
How to make Protein Flapjacks:
- Mix the mashed banana, oats, WAM Protein, cinnamon, agave syrup, and chocolate chips in a large bowl. Pour in the oat milk and stir everything well until the mixture starts to stick together.
- Line a small baking tray with parchment paper and press the mixture down firmly with a spoon so the flapjacks are nice and dense.
- Place the tray in the fridge for at least an hour to allow the oats to soak up the liquid and the mixture to firm up.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the flapjacks for about 15 minutes, no longer (so they don’t dry out). Let them cool completely. If you fancy, you can drizzle them with melted chocolate and chill them again.
-
Once cooled, cut the flapjacks into 6 even bars and enjoy your delicious, protein-packed snack!
Why choose Protein Flapjacks?
These vegan oat bars are not only super moist and delicious but also packed with essential nutrients like fibre and complex carbohydrates from oats, plus plant-based protein. This combination makes them an ideal energy source before your workout and supports both recovery and muscle building.
Our recipe is naturally sweetened with fruit sugars from the banana, so there’s no added sugar, and it’s relatively low in fat. If you like, you can add a spoonful of peanut butter for an extra boost.
Storage
If you don’t manage to eat all the flapjacks in one go (though it’s hard to resist!), you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge, where they’ll stay fresh for several days.
Our protein flapjacks, made with just a few natural ingredients, are easy to prepare and provide everything you need to kickstart your day or fuel your next workout. Be sure to try them out and let us know what you think!
