Why Protein at Breakfast is Important

A high-protein breakfast helps you:

  • Stay full for longer and avoid cravings

  • Support muscle maintenance and recovery

  • Fuel your day and ensure you reach your protein goals

For those following a plant-based diet, getting sufficient protein can sometimes be a challenge. A high-quality, great-tasting vegan protein powder for baking is an excellent solution.

Protein Baked Oats Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)

  • 160 g oats

  • 120 g WAM Protein Banana Bread

  • 400 ml oat milk or soy drink

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 4 tsp baking powder

Toppings:

  • 1 additional banana (sliced)

  • Dark chocolate chips

  • Nuts of choice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.

  2. Mix all ingredients by hand until a firm dough forms (a blender is not suitable for this step).

  3. Spread the dough evenly into the baking dish.

  4. Add banana slices, chocolate chips, and nuts on top.

  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on the surface.

  6. Allow to cool, cut into pieces, and enjoy.

Variations and Tips

  • Not sweet enough? Use very ripe bananas or add a natural sweetener of your choice, such as agave syrup, maple syrup, honey, or sugar.

  • Looking for variety? Customize this high-protein base recipe by adding berries (e.g. blueberries), cocoa powder, or nut butter.

  • Not a banana bread fan? You can substitute the banana in the batter with applesauce.

  • Meal prep: These baked oats store well in the fridge or freezer and can be enjoyed warm or cold as a breakfast or snack.
